This stunning park adjoins the famous Franklin- Gordon Wild Rivers National Park one of Australia’s great wild river systems consisting of high ranges and deep gorges. There are vast tracts of cool temperate rainforest, waterfalls and dolerite – and quartzite – capped mountains. The South West Wilderness is one of the most remote and inaccessible areas in Australia and epitomises the grandeur and spirit of wilderness that is both untamed and wild in its truest sense. No vehicular roads penetrate beyond the edges of the wilderness, so the only access to South West Tasmania area is by foot, air or sea.
